Little Mosque on the Prairie Launches New Interactive Fan Website

Little Mosque on the Prairie, the award-winning breakout hit comedy about a Muslim community assimilating into a fictional rural town, has officially launched its new interactive fan website http://www.cbc.ca/littlemosque/, announced Mary Darling, Executive Producer of Little Mosque on the Prairie.
The website is produced by WestWind Pictures http://home.westwindpictures.com/ with the participation of the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund http://www.ipf.ca/Bell/English/BellFund.html, was created in association with CBC Television http://www.cbc.ca/television/, and in association with Jam3media http://jam3media.com/.
The new Little Mosque on the Prairie website features a number of interactive on-line activities inspired by the fans’ favourite episodes and characters.
According to Rob Sockett, Head of Development, WestWind Pictures, “Our goal with the website is to give fans and viewers an opportunity to further their Little Mosque experience through a series of fun, interactive and creative online experiences.”

Inspired by the season 2 episode “Jihad On Ice”, visitors have the opportunity to assume a character’s identity and select who they wish to compete against. The game has several levels of difficulty to choose from and features video components of Little Mosque characters tossing rocks and celebrating victories.

Mercy’s opinionated radio talk show host Fred Tupper can be heard in 20 new podcasts produced exclusively for the website and available as free downloads to visitors. The podcasts feature Fred interviewing some of Mercy’s most colourful characters including Yasir Hamoudi, Reverend Magee and Mayor Popowicz.

Although on the show, Fatima serves up traditional diner fare, this section of the website is dedicated to showcasing some of Fatima’s traditional recipes from Africa. Sixteen delicious and original recipes are online for visitors to view and download so they can make these in their own kitchen.
“I On Mercy” A New Webisode Series –

Little Mosque on the Prairie’s new website will also feature 20 new, never-seen-before webisodes inspired by the season 2 episode “Public Access” where Amaar and Rayyan became co-hosts of an Islam-themed program on Mercy’s local public access TV station. This time, the webisodes feature Mercy’s own Baber and Rayyan as the hosts of their own morning show. The award-winning Little Mosque on the Prairie director, Michael Kennedy, directs each webisode.
“Our community of fans have been so loyal to us over the past two seasons and have played a paramount role in our success. This is our way of saying thank you to our fans,” said Darling.
Little Mosque on the Prairie currently airs in 63 countries and is translated into 10 languages. The show has won multiple international and national awards including the Gemini’s ‘Canada Award’ for promoting greater opportunities for ethnic and visible minority professionals within the broadcasting industry on both sides of the camera. The show was also awarded the The Search For Common Ground Award, which recognizes individuals and organizations that, through their unique and individual approach, have taken the task of finding common ground between parties in conflict to new heights.
