The Journal Culture Club: Save Pounds 2 on Tickets for Over The Rainbow
OVER The Rainbow, the compelling and award-winning musical which tells the life story of legendary music artist Eva Cassidy, comes to the Sunderland Empire for one night only and The Journal Culture Club is giving members the chance to save pounds 2 on each ticket.
Starring Faye Tozer, who rose to fame as one fifth of multi- platinum selling pop group Steps, Over The Rainbow follows the story of Eva Cassidy’s tragically short life through dramatic scenes and stunning renditions of her music, including Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
Eva’s life – growing up in a musical family, having her first professional gig at the age of 18 and meeting boyfriend and mentor Chris Biondo – is celebrated in this genuine and heartfelt tribute to an artist who was not interested in fame or fortune but in creating beautiful music.
The show includes a rabble-rousing rendition and recording at Blues Alley with Chuck Brown and culminates in Eva’s death.
It features her most popular hits, including Fields of Gold, People get Ready, I Know you by Heart and What a Wonderful World. In these, the legacy of Eva Cassidy lives on.
Over The Rainbow – The Eva Cassidy Story is at the Sunderland Empire on Sunday, October 12.
