The big, bad, rock-n-roll musical The Rocky Horror Show will open Thursday to conclude the “Lyric at the Plaza” season. It is scheduled through Nov. 1 on Lyric’s Plaza

The live version of this spectacular cult classic re-tells the tale of the madcap adventures of a young couple who seek help for a flat tire at the spooky Frank ‘N’ Furter place.

To their surprise, they find the maniacal Dr. Frank ‘N’ Furter, the rippling Rocky, the vivacious Magenta and experience the boldest, naughtiest party of their lives. That’s right, naughtiest, so be prepared.

First created as a stage musical in 1973, the show became a film two years later and went on to become one of the most famous cult films of all time. Audiences are encouraged to get into the intended spirit of the show by dressing up and participating in all of the talk-back and “extracurricular” activities that make Rocky Horror a wild, theatrical experience.

Lyric’s production is directed and choreographed by Nick Demos and is his final show at Lyric Theatre as its artistic director.

The show features Monte Wheeler and Bradley Beahen from New York and Oklahoma native Heather Hawkins in the leading roles.

Tickets are $40 with senior, group and student (with ID) discounts. For tickets call (405) 524-9312 or visit www.lyrictheatreokc.com.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays and at 6 and 10 p.m. Saturdays. However, the Friday, Oct. 31, performance and the late Saturday, Nov. 1, performance both will begin at midnight instead of the times previously listed.

The Houser legacy

“Unconquered: Allan Houser and the Legacy of One Apache Family” is the title of the exciting exhibition opening Oct. 24 at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City. “Unconquered” is the name of one of Houser’s famous bronze statues.

Invitations to History Center members have been sent by the Oklahoma Historical Society and the Inasmuch Foundation for an opening reception from 7 until 9 p.m. Oct. 23.

This unique exhibition will bridge art and history as it honors the Houser/Haozous family.

Everyone knows about the Allan Houser masterpiece in front of the Oklahoma Capitol building titled As the Waters Flow. More of his art will be on view in this exhibition as well as art by his sons, Phillip Haozous and Bob Haozous.

For more information, call (405) 522-0765.
