Briefs: ‘Zack & Miri’ Director to Host Film Office Benefit

October 9, 2008

Director Kevin Smith will return to Pittsburgh for an Oct. 25 screening of “Zack and Miri Make a Porno” at the Oaks Theater in Oakmont. Smith will introduce the film and host an after-party at the Alto Lounge in Shadyside. Admission to the film and after party are included in the $50 ticket price.

Shot in Monroeville earlier this year, “Zack & Miri” stars Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks as two cash-strapped friends who try to get out of debt by producing their own porno movie. An unanticipated romance develops between the two during their bawdy endeavor. The film opens nationwide Oct. 31.

Smith, who shot the controversial religious send-up “Dogma” in Western Pennsylvania in 1998, will also host a Q&A session following the film. Proceeds benefit the Pittsburgh Film Office.
