CULTURAL LIFE

Books

The last book I read was ‘Shock Value’ by the US film-maker John Waters. It’s about his movies, such as ‘Hairspray’, as well as his fascinating childhood and the drag star Divine, one of the regular group of actors who used to star in his movies. I don’t get into the habit of reading much, though.

Music

I love the French alternative rock band Phoenix, particularly their first album ‘United’. I downloaded all the albums and listen to them a lot. I can’t wait for the new one. I have a few DJ sets ahead and I’ve been listening to ‘My Hair Looks Fierce’ by Amanda Lepore and ‘Upgrade U’ by Beyonce.

Television

I watch ‘Project Runway’ and ‘America’s Next Top Model’ with Tyra Banks. I love how she teaches the girls her modelling tricks. I met two ‘Runway’ contestants in the US. They have crazy deadlines. It’s amazing how they make outfits in a day and get so stressed out.

Film

I’ve been buying DVDs lately. I watched ‘High Fidelity’, which wasn’t that great a film, and ‘Good Bye Lenin!’ because I love the soundtrack. The last time I went to the movies was to see ‘Sex and the City’. I’m so happy it was a long movie.
