Media Advisory: Cineplex Entertainment’s Next 2008-09 Met: Live in HD Performance-SALOME Starring Karita Mattila on Saturday October 11th
WHAT: Cineplex Entertainment is pleased to announce that the third season of The Met: Live in HD continues with an afternoon transmission of Richard Strauss’s Salome this Saturday October 11th at 1 PM ET/10 AM PT, hosted by acclaimed soprano Deborah Voigt.
Salome marks the second performance of the season as part of The Met: Live in HD series and will be transmitted live from New York via satellite in high-definition into more than 80 Cineplex Entertainment theatres across the country.
Finnish soprano Karita Mattila, who electrified Met audiences in the title role of Richard Strauss’s Salome in 2004, returns as the voluptuous Judean princess to a new set of stunning reviews from around the globe. Mattila is joined by fellow Finn Juha Uusitalo as Jochanaan (John the Baptist) who makes his company debut. The production is conducted by Patrick Summers. The cast also includes Ildiko Komlosi as Herodias, Kim Begley in the role of Herod and Joseph Kaiser as Narraboth.
Prior to the performance of the one act opera and at the conclusion, HD cameras will take guests backstage for a rare behind-the-scenes view of the Met with host Deborah Voigt.
