Evite is ‘In’ With Custom Invitations for Project Runway and AMC’s Mad Men

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Evite (http://www.evite.com/), the leading online invitation and social event planning service on the Web, announced today that, despite erratic ratings for the new Fall Network season, appointment TV viewing is alive and well, as evidenced by the site's dramatic growth in TV viewing parties. In the month of September, Evite tracked a 35% increase versus last year in events planned in the Movie/TV Night category, fueled by fan gatherings for not only returning Network favorites but also Cable series crescendos and the much-watched election debates.

The trend of group TV watching dates back as far as the early '90s when fans started gathering to watch pop-culture favorites like Twin Peaks, Beverly Hills 90210 (the original) and Melrose Place. Today the custom of TV viewing parties has gained momentum as fans are now gathering to watch not only serial dramas but also personality-driven reality shows. Furthermore, many official show websites and enthusiastic fan sites have begun encouraging fan viewing parties, and Evite has been on the forefront of this trend.

Currently, Evite is partnering with Bravo Media to offer a custom Project Runway online invitation integrated into Bravo's B-Hive, an area on the network's Project Runway website that allows fans to throw at-home viewing parties using tools provided by the network to take their connection to their favorite shows to the next level by providing fun ideas and access to exclusive content and sweepstakes. (http://www.bravotv.com/Project_Runway/season/5/b-hive). As Project Runway heads into its big Season 5 finale tonight, both Evite and Bravo report that viewing parties have been enthusiastically embraced by Runway fans, with many not only getting together to watch the show but also creating fashion themes for their gatherings and even dressing up as their favorite designer contestants.

Evite has also partnered with AMC to launch invitation templates celebrating the network's Emmy Award-winning series, Mad Men. In anticipation of the October 26th Mad Men season finale, Evite and AMC have created four custom invitations that are currently featured on both AMC's Mad Men website (http://www.amctv.com/originals/madmen) and on Evite.com. The collection of Mad Men invitations showcases the program's most popular characters, as well as iconic show imagery, and offers fans the opportunity to show off their passion for the show as they get together to enjoy the series' last installments for the season.

"With the fall TV schedule in full swing, the writer's strike a distant memory and consumers spending more time at home due to the economic environment, TV watching parties are back and more popular than ever," said Lariayn Payne, VP of Marketing for Evite. "We are thrilled to bring our users custom invitations designs from hit shows like Project Runway and Mad Men to help make their next show viewing party a fun event."

About Bravo's Project Runway on Bravo

The twelve-time Emmy-nominated and Peabody Award-winning creative competition reality series Project Runway airs Wednesdays on Bravo at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Host and supermodel Heidi Klum heads a panel of industry luminaries, including judges, top women's and menswear designer Michael Kors, and fashion expert Nina Garcia, as they decide who is "in" and who is "out." Tim Gunn, Chief Creative Officer at Liz Claiborne, Inc., acts as a mentor to the designers as they take on weekly fashion challenges. The 16 Project Runway contestants have been whittled down week-by-week to the finalists who will show their own line in front of an audience of fashion industry movers and shakers at New York Fashion Week.

About AMC's Mad Men

Set in 1960s New York, the sexy, stylized and provocative AMC drama Mad Men follows the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue advertising, an ego-driven world where key players make an art of the sell.

The series revolves around the conflicted world of Don Draper (Hamm), the biggest ad man (and ladies man) in the business, and his colleagues at the Sterling Cooper Advertising Agency. As Don makes the plays in the boardroom and the bedroom, he struggles to stay a step ahead of the rapidly changing times and the young executives nipping at his heels. The series also depicts authentically the roles of men and women in this era while exploring the true human nature beneath the guise of 1960s traditional family values.

Created and executive produced by Matthew Weiner, Mad Men is basic cable's first show to win a best drama award at the 60th annual Primetime Emmy Awards, and has won a total of six Emmys, two Golden Globes (Best TV Drama and Best Actor), and a Peabody Award. Mad Men is produced by Lionsgate and airs Sundays at 10pm ET & PT/9C on AMC.
