San Francisco Parlor Opera to Perform W.A. Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte
On October 30, November 1, 8, 13 and 15, 2008 San Francisco Parlor Opera will perform W.A. Mozart's masterpiece Cosi Fan Tutte. All performances will take place at their new location at 1652 Hayes Street in San Francisco.
Cosi Fan Tutte is a comic exploration of love and infidelity in spectacular Mozart style. Under the direction of Cole Grissom the story is updated and placed firmly on fashion forward. The cast includes Patricia Urbano as Fiordiligi, Elizabeth O'Neill as Dorabella, Cole Grissom as Guglielmo, Justin Marsh as Ferrando, Marisol Urbano as Despina, and Michael Beetham as Don Alfonso.Founded in 2008 by Grissom, O'Neill and Urbano, San Francisco Parlor Opera is a small opera company based in San Francisco that performs operas in their original language to small audiences in private homes and other intimate settings. SF Parlor Opera is committed to carrying the power and beauty of opera in an immediate environment with the audience as close to the music and drama as possible.
Last Spring, San Francisco Parlor Opera enjoyed a successful sold out run of Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro at the historic Zellerbach mansion, home of San Francisco real estate agent Bonnie Spindler. In the words of one audience member, "Last night's Le Nozze di Figaro was the first production of this 'San Francisco Parlor Opera,' and it was a knock out! Mr. Grissom sang the title role of Figaro beautifully, creating an engaging persona that helped the listener relate to the emotions expressed. Grissom also served as the stage director, and his vision for blocking, etc., was well-achieved. Ms. Urbano was a truly remarkable (read: unbelievably good) Susanna, not only for her well-trained singing voice that stayed strong and true throughout the challenging role, but also for her acting ability that transmitted the content of the role as much as her crystal clear Italian diction. Ms. O'Neill sang the role of Cherubino with great zest, and her focus on the character and the role were a tour-de-force... I firmly celebrate this troupe, encourage anyone who lives within striking range of SF to take advantage of this amazing production."
