New York Festivals and Luerzer's International Archive have come together to shine a spotlight on the Archive 2008 Student of the Year, Kimberly Baffi. Ms. Baffi, a student of the Chicago Portfolio School, will be flown to New York City and honored at New York Festivals' prestigious International Advertising Awards Gala in May 2009. As Student of the Year, she will be presented with Archive's unique "Sixpack" trophy for her prize winning ad for Mont Blanc fountain pens.
The collaboration between NYF and Archive offers a platform to celebrate the innovative work of this year's student winner and allows the advertising community a sneak peak at the rising talent of tomorrow. "NYF is invested in helping young creatives develop and advance to the next level. Showcasing them in an international competition of the caliber of New York Festivals gives these newcomers an entre into the major leagues, while giving them access to the decision makers of our industry," commented New York Festival's President, Michael O'Rourke.
The Archive Student of the Year Award was first established in 2004. Past experience has shown the award to be a stepping stone for students looking to jumpstart their careers. This exciting competition offers young, creative students an exclusive opportunity to have their work viewed in 67 countries by an international audience of 150,000 Archive readers. The winner is selected from over 1000 entries submitted by advertising schools from around the globe. All student submissions that are selected and published in Archive magazine are automatically nominated for the Student of the Year Competition. "By encouraging and applauding the work of the next generation of ad makers, we inspire outstanding work by everyone," said Lakpa Sherpa, Marketing and Sales Manager for Luerzer's International Archive.
New York Festivals' International Advertising Awards also support the work of upcoming talent by holding its own Student Competition, honoring the best and the brightest of advertising's rising young stars. This global competition showcases the most inspiring student work in the field of advertising, and offers a forum for students to be recognized and rewarded for their creativity. All winning entries are selected by an international jury of creative directors representing 40 countries worldwide.
