Drambuie Late Night Pursuits: An Exclusive Free Comedy Event on 27 November at Koko in Camden

November 11, 2008

Drambuie links up with Soho Theatre to present Drambuie Late Night Pursuits, an exclusive free comedy show at Camden’s renowned venue Koko. Four of the UK’s best stand-ups come together to present special sets, sharing comical anecdotes based around their own late night pursuits.

Compered by Phil Kay in his unique off-the-wall style, the line includes Sean Hughes, Rich Hall and Shappi Khorsandi. The event is inspired by Bonnie Prince Charlie, Drambiue’s young hero, who undertook many a rebellious late night adventure and will see these four modern day heroes of comedy recount their own late night antics.

Drambuie Late Night Pursuits is a unique and FREE evening of outstanding entertainment with top class comedy, followed by an after-party hosted by legendary Radio 1 Essential Mix DJ Martin Doorly. Also performing are the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, the most famous pipe and drum group in the world. The night is made complete with complimentary Drambuie & Ginger Beer.

The line-up is:

– Phil Kay, whose unique and random approach to comedy won him the 1994 British Comedy Award. He is a firm favourite at the Edinburgh Festival, where he delivers his special blend of comedy genius to sell-out crowds and critical acclaim.

“One of the greatest comedic odysseys ever witnessed… ‘Hysterical’ in every sense of the word – Kay truly is a mesmerizing … genius”

Time Out

– Sean Hughes is well known as the sardonic team captain on Never Mind the Buzzcocks. He was as the youngest winner of the Perrier Award and, as well as comedy, he has also written poetry, a couple of novels and been the voice of a rubber shark.

“Honest and intelligent stand-up at its best” The Times

– Perrier Award-winner Rich Hall was a regular performer on the influential Saturday Night Live in the US before appearing regularly on UK television on Have I Got News For You, 8 out of 10 Cats and Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

“Belly laughs and aching sides… whimsical and splenetic. The man is an extempore powerhouse…” The Times

– Anglo-Iranian comedian Shappi Korsandi packs a deceptively powerful punch with her fast-flowing banter. Drawing on her personal stories, Shappi’s humour is engrossing, effervescent and brilliantly intelligent.

“Britain’s best young female comic by any yardstick” The Guardian
