ANN ARBOR, Mich., Nov. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- As excitement builds around the upcoming release of Summit Entertainment's feature film "Twilight," based on the best-selling novel by Stephenie Meyer, Borders is inviting all vampire enthusiasts to gather with their friends and other "Twilight" fans to celebrate the movie-and their passion for all things "Twilight" - at free parties at nearly all Borders and Waldenbooks stores nationwide Saturday, Nov. 15 beginning at 7 p.m. The "Are You Ready for Twilight?" parties will give fans the unique opportunity to revel in their shared delight for Bella, Edward, Jacob and the other characters in the incredibly popular "Twilight" saga, before the "Twilight" film hits theaters Nov. 21. Borders will be giving away movie tickets for "Twilight" as prizes at many of the parties, courtesy of Fandango, the nation's largest movie ticketing service.
(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20060208/BORDERSLOGO ) Party activities will include:
-- Movie discussion. A lively discussion will surely ensue when fans talk about which scenes from the book they would most like to see in the movie and how they think the actors and actresses will do when portraying the characters.
-- Movie soundtrack listening party and "Twilight" film DVD screener. In Borders stores (only), the retailer will show an exclusive "Twilight" film DVD screener featuring behind-the-scenes peeks at the movie. After customers have had a chance to listen to select tracks from the "Twilight" movie soundtrack and hear the music that inspired Stephenie Meyer when she was writing the "Twilight" saga, they'll enjoy a viewing of this special DVD.
-- Quote contest. Dedicated fans who attend parties at Waldenbooks stores will have their knowledge of the characters in "Twilight" tested when they are challenged to match a quote with a character who said it.
-- Additional activities. Some stores will also host additional activities such as fortune telling, arm wrestling, creative writing and more!
Borders is "Twilight" Central
Borders is "Twilight" central this holiday season-and beyond. In addition to offering the four "Twilight" saga titles, some available in paperback as well as hardcover, the retailer is also offering a boxed set of all four titles in hardcover, which makes an impressive gift and comes with a poster. An exclusive 16-month "Twilight" film calendar featuring lush photographs of the cast is also available for purchase. It is the only calendar available for the film and you'll only find it at Borders. In addition, stores will be stocked with a magazine, "Film Fantasy Presents Twilight." Music from the "Twilight" film is captured on the "Twilight Movie Soundtrack" from Atlantic Records, which features artists such as Linkin Park, Muse, Collective Soul, Perry Farrell and Paramore, who recorded their song "Decode" in an acoustic version that is available only on the Borders-exclusive version of the CD as a bonus track.
Borders is stepping outside of the traditional book, music and movie categories with its "Twilight" offerings, providing customers with a wide selection of gift and stocking-stuffer items this holiday season. Most of these items will be available the week of the "Twilight" movie release Nov. 21 and many of these "Twilight" gift items are exclusive to Borders so they cannot be purchased anywhere else. Fans will find apparel such as T-shirts in several different designs and in styles for men and women, a hoodie, and a messenger bag. There are also bookmarks, key chains, posters, pens, a pin set, a magnet set, stickers and wall scrolls, as well as jewelry that is authentic to what the characters wear in the film including a necklace, bracelet, a leather cuff bracelet and more. Borders is the only retailer where, with the purchase of items totaling $25 or more within the "Twilight" saga, customers will receive a free collectible and Borders-exclusive Twilight poster featuring a photo of Edward and Bella taken from the Borders-exclusive calendar. Sized at 18-by-24 inches, it is the perfect extra special gift add- on for that vampire fan.
