Iranian actor Ahmad Aqalou dead at 59

Iranian stage, TV and film actor Ahmad Aqalou has been buried in Tehran's Behesht Zahra cemetery in a section reserved for artists, IRNA reported.

Aqalou died Sunday after a long battle with bone marrow cancer. He was 59.

A public funeral was held in Ark Square Tuesday for the actor whose TV credits included The Sultan and the Shepherd and whose film resume featured roles in Sometimes Look at the Sky, Patal and Small Wishes.

Among those who turned out to pay their respects at the service were show-biz luminaries Hamid Samandarian, Iraj Rad, Davoud Rashidi, Reza Kianian, Majid Sarsangi, Saeed Haqiqi, Behrouz Baqaei and Miakeil Shahrestani, IRNA said.
