Costello hosting new music-themed TV show

Singer Elvis Costello says his new TV show, Spectacle,
on the U.S. cable network Sundance offers an in-depth look at musicians and their creations.
The British singer said his main motivation for hosting the show was to learn what motivates individual musicians rather than simply have them pitch their newest album or discuss notorious actions in their past, The New York Daily News said Sunday.
I didn't want to have someone who was there just to promote a new product,
Costello said. And I wasn't there to get them to confess to something scandalous. I also didn't want to have to tell their story chronologically.
Among the guest stars appearing on the series, which premieres Wednesday, are singers Lou Reed and Jenny Lewis, along with bands like The Police.
Costello said while he has yet to be approached about filming a second season of Spectacle,
he told the Daily News he was nonetheless proud of the show's unique qualities.
There's so much more we have in the can than you see on the show,
the singer said.
