Spacey named short film fest host

Hollywood actor and director Kevin Spacey has agreed to preside over the MOFILM Mobile Short Film Festival in Barcelona, it was announced Wednesday.

Spacey, who won Oscars for his work in The Usual Suspects and American Beauty, is to headline the GSMA's Mobile World Congress in February as host of the film fest. He is also scheduled to participate in a keynote interview at the congress, GSMA and MOFILM jointly announced Wednesday.

The MOFILM Mobile Short Film Festival is the first of its kind and highlights the increasing influence of the mobile medium on the entertainment industry, bringing together art, commerce and technology, organizers said in a news release.

We are thrilled that Kevin Spacey, one of the world's most revered and respected actor/directors, will join us in Barcelona to share some refreshing and provocative perspectives on the potential of mobile entertainment and host the world's first global mobile film festival, Michael O'Hara, chief marketing officer of the GSMA, said in a statement.
