IMAX ‘Earth’ to land at Navy Pier

Chicago’s Navy Pier IMAX Theatre says it will soon be showing an IMAX version of the Hollywood remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still.

The Day the Earth Stood Still: The IMAX Experience is to debut Dec. 12 concurrently with the U.S. release of the film in conventional theaters.

In this contemporary reinvention of the 1951 science-fiction classic, renowned scientist Dr. Helen Benson, played by Jennifer Connelly, finds herself face-to-face with an alien called Klaatu, played by Keanu Reeves, who travels across the universe to warn of an impending global crisis, the Navy Pier IMAX Theatre said in a news release.

The film co-stars Jaden Smith, John Cleese, Jon Hamm and Kathy Bates and is directed by Scott Derrickson, who wrote and directed the thriller The Exorcism of Emily Rose.
