Joan Warren-Grady, Art Advisor for Luxury Hotel Properties Internationally, Completes Major Contemporary Art Collection for Regent Bal Harbour

Collection Features 400+ Works by Emerging and Established Artists and Is Valued at $3.5 Million

NEW YORK, Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Joan Warren-Grady, art advisor to luxury hotels worldwide, completes remarkable art collection for Regent Bal Harbour. Joan Warren-Grady Art Advisory has now curated contemporary art collections for more than 200 hotel clients internationally from New York to Dubai, Miami to Tokyo, Atlanta to Cairo, and has curated collections for seven top hotels in Florida alone. The Regent Bal Harbour Art Collection features recent and commissioned works by emerging and established artists, contributing to South Florida's thriving art scene.

The Regent Bal Harbour Art Collection includes more than 400 works in a variety of mediums such as paintings, works on paper, photography, and sculpture. The collection features artists Guy Dill, Richard Deutsche and Ed Moses, who contributed key works to the Regent's $3.5 million collection comprised, almost entirely, of site-specific commissions. California sculptor Guy Dill was commissioned to create a 37-foot, outdoor, bronze sculpture titled Close Hauled, which perfectly epitomizes Dill's two great loves--the sun and the sea. The work is installed on the North side of the hotel and is visible from the Causeway creating a visual landmark from all key points on the property as well as from inside the lobby itself, forming a dialogue with works installed within the lobby's interior. Dill's sculpture plays on the dimensions of space, place and form, and creates a memorable composition against the property's oceanic backdrop.

California-based sculptor, Richard Deutsch, was commissioned to create Black Basalt Sculpture for the entrance of The Regent Bal Harbour, which evokes a serene sense of balance, reminiscent of a Japanese garden. The sculpture provides a welcoming transition as guests make their way into the lobby of the hotel. Upon entering the lobby, visitors are immediately drawn to yet another key commission in the hotel's collection; nationally recognized artist Ed Moses' monumental oil on canvas, Untitled, which prominently hangs above the waiting area.

With works interspersed throughout the hotel's many public spaces as well as all guest rooms and suites, Warren-Grady explains: "The collection we curated for the Regent is a contemporary art program with a sophisticated elegance. There is a subtle Asian influence which compliments the interior design, as well as acknowledges the property's Asian ownership." Interiors of the hotel provide a multifaceted milieu for engaging works, combined with architectural elements, millwork, lighting and textural materials resulting in an elegant Asian sensibility in homage to Regent International's Hong Kong roots.

Other artists featured in the Regent Bal Harbour's collection include San Francisco painter Darren Waterston, whose limited edition, hand-embellished prints are installed in the Living Rooms of all Suites, as well as Colombian artist Olga deAmaral, whose luminous silver leaf wall hangings welcome spa visitors with the tranquil radiance of a Japanese countryside at sunset. Other prominent works include: Collage of Antique Birds, a wall sculpture in the hotel lobby by Joe Walters; a large-scale, Asian-influenced mural by Venezuelan artist Arturo Herrera located in the Gallery; and a glazed ceramic sculpture from Omaha-based artist Jun Kaneko's Dango series that is set at the entrance to the hotel's signature restaurant, 1 Bleu.
