Marketing Executive Networking Group and The Edison Awards Partner to Deliver Historic Content on Innovation Success and American Competitiveness

December 8, 2008

OLD SAYBROOK, Conn. and CHICAGO, Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ – The Marketing Executive Networking Group (MENG), the leading association for today’s top marketing executives, and The Edison Awards(TM), an organization which supports two major awards platforms honoring innovation and innovators at the highest levels, today announce a joint partnership to co-market, share leadership knowledge, and promote “breakthrough thinking” through a national awards program. The first awards supported by this partnership will be launched at a ceremony on March 31, 2009 in Santa Clara, CA.

Under the agreement, The Edison Awards is working with MENG’s membership to nominate and vote on leading-edge new products and services launched over the past 18 months. Nominations are made in nine categories related to Edison’s own world-changing industry contributions. The partnership also provides MENG’s nearly 2000 members with online access to select papers by Thomas A. Edison — America’s most prolific inventor and innovator. The opportunity to tap Edison’s own thinking represents a unique way for MENG’s membership to further strengthen its marketing thought leadership position.

MENG’s virtual access to Edison’s work is sponsored and made available through a globally recognized research center spearheaded by Dr. Paul Israel — the world’s leading expert on Edison today — at Rutgers University. Sarah Miller Caldicott, a 25-year marketing executive, great grandniece of Edison’s, and co-author of “Innovate Like Edison: The Five-Step System for Breakthrough Business Success,” helped connect MENG and Rutgers. Sarah conducted 3 years of research with Dr. Israel while writing her book.

As spokesperson for the Edison Awards, Sarah commented, “MENG represents the best and the brightest marketing minds in the world. We’re extremely pleased to be working with this incredible brain trust to recognize and promote today’s top innovators.”

“The Edison Awards embody the very essence of what has made this great nation excel and stand out in the world,” said Richard Guha, Chairman of MENG. “It’s important to challenge the status quo, strive for excellence and recognize truly breakthrough achievements at the local, state, national and global levels in order to continue to make significant, positive strides forward.”
