The Washington Times Photos Now Available Through Landov Media

Posted on: Monday, 8 December 2008, 14:38 CST

WASHINGTON, Dec. 8 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Washington Times is teaming up with New York-based Landov Media to market the work of the Times' award-winning staff to clients worldwide. Landov will syndicate all of the Times' enterprise photos and the newspaper's 26-year archive of photos, as well as daily spot news.

"For years, Washington Times photographers have dazzled Washington, DC area readers with some of the profession's most compelling photos, from candid shots deep inside the Reagan White House to contemplative moments on the Obama campaign bus," Executive Editor John Solomon said.

"Our photographers also have traveled the globe and chronicled conditions in some of the world's most dangerous and under-reported places, exposing such humanitarian crises as battered women in the hidden abuse shelters of Pakistan, the impoverished Sugar Babies who work the streets of reclusive Myanmar and the growing number of opium-addicted women and children suffering in Afghanistan's war-torn villages.

"Thanks to our relationship with Landov we now have the ability to share these compelling images to an audience worldwide through syndication. We're very excited about the journalistic and financial opportunities this agreement affords us," Solomon said.

During the last five years, photographers at The Times have twice been named finalists for the Pulitzer Prize in Journalism, including an all-staff submission for their coverage of the D.C. sniper shootings, and for photographer Mary Calvert's story on African women receiving surgery for fistula scars.

Patricia Lantis, co-founder of Landov Media, said "We're delighted that The Washington Times has chosen Landov Media to represent its photography and video. We look for superior content to present to our image buyers, and The Washington Times collection will be a distinguished addition."

In 2002, Landov Media opened its doors on Fifth Avenue in New York as an image rights management agency, presenting the work of premier photographers and artists to media companies in 60 leading markets around the world. Principal partners Patricia Lantis and Uri Davidov brought with them years of experience at The Associated Press and Time Inc., and built upon much of their earlier success with the entertainment media.

Images from Landov's online database have appeared on covers of publications such as ESPN magazine, Entertainment Weekly, Newsweek, The New Republic, Golf Week, Ebony magazine and a host of others. Among their image providers are UPI, CBS, The CW Network, Xinhua, Reuters, Bloomberg News, Kyodo News, McClatchy-Tribune News Service (MCT), ITAR-TASS, Press Association and Deutsche Press (DPA).

Professional image buyers can browse the Landov archive at no cost and download both still images and video directly from the site, www.landov.com. A staff of seasoned professionals is available to assist with the licensing for editorial or commercial use.
