‘Extreme Makeover’ family may lose house
A Michigan family featured on the TV show
Extreme Makeover may lose its renovated house due to an increase in property taxes and medical bills.
WXYZ-TV, Detroit, reported that Larry and Judy Vardon’s Oak Park home is in foreclosure, in part, because much of their blind and autistic 16-year-old son Lance’s medical treatments aren’t covered by their insurance.
Their property taxes also increased after the 2004 makeover and their mortgage rate jumped to 11 percent after they remortgaged their home following Larry Vardon’s layoff shortly after the family appeared on the show. Now employed, he is fearful of being downsized from the Chrysler Stamping Plant in Sterling Heights, WXYZ said.
Donations can be made to the Friends of the Vardon Family Fund, P.O. Box 721084, Berkley, MI 48072-0084, WXYZ said.
