The Tales of Beedle the Bard, author J.K. Rowling’s follow-up to her wildly popular Harry Potter series, was England’s fastest-selling book this year.

The Daily Telegraph said the slim volume of fairy tales has sold nearly five times as many copies in its first few days after publication as its nearest rival, Guinness World Records 2008.

Beedle the Bard, which was first mentioned in Rowling’s final Potter saga, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, sold 367,625 copies in the first three days after it was published Dec. 4.

Guinness, on the other hand, sold only 73,000 copies during the same time period, the Telegraph noted.

None of the other big releases managed to get near the sales figure for ‘Beedle the Bard, Philip Stone, charts editor at The Bookseller magazine, told the newspaper. I would be very surprised if it is not Christmas number one, but it’s not a dead (certainty.)
