Walter Reed Soldiers Visit Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J., Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ — A letter from the mother of a soldier who had been wounded in the Iraq conflict and recuperating at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, DC has led to the invitation for a visit to Harrah’s Resorts in Atlantic City.

The letter, detailing the desire of young servicemen and women, recovering

from war injuries and wishing for the chance to take a break from their hospital routine came across the desk of the Harrah’s Entertainment Atlantic City Operations community affairs department. A group named “Wounded Warriors Project” emerged as a national support team for veterans such as these soldiers recuperating at Walter Reed Army Hospital.

When the 25 invited service members and their families arrive at Harrah’s Resort on Sunday, December 14 for three days they will be greeted with a Atlantic City Police Department escort and whisked over to Harrah’s Resort for lunch at the Taste of the Shore Sack O Subs restaurant, watch Sunday football games with former Chicago Bears football player Jim McMahon, enjoy The Pool (Atlantic City’s largest indoor pool complex) and complete the day with an Italian feast at Polistina’s Restaurant.

The next day the guests of honor will have breakfast with key Harrah’s management and team members, visit the Atlantic City Aquarium at Historic

Gardner’s Basin, lunch with the Brigantine VFW and dine at a specially planned American Fest Buffet. Topping off the evening is Monday night football.

Before departing back to DC on Tuesday, December 16 the group will participate on a local radio talk show and enjoy a All-American breakfast at Reflections.

“We are extremely proud of what American soldiers do each and every day for all of us to enjoy the many blessings we have on a daily basis,” said J. Carlos Tolosa, Harrah’s Entertainment Eastern Division President. “When we received the mother’s inquiry we immediately decided to host these men and women in lieu of management holiday parties. This is the best way to celebrate the holiday season.”
