'Baby Bigga Goes to the Zoo': Colorful New Children's Book Entertains While Educating about Animals, Colors, Shapes and Sizes

Posted on: Thursday, 11 December 2008, 07:40 CST

STOW, Ohio, Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Bright colors, fun animals and engaging, easy-to-read text. From infants to early readers, "Baby Bigga Goes to the Zoo" (published by AuthorHouse - http://www.authorhouse.com), the new children's book by Samantha Gross, has a little something for everyone.

Illustrated by Suzanne Tessmer, "Baby Bigga Goes to the Zoo" is the first in the upcoming "Baby Bigga" series. The tale follows Baby Bigga and his mother, Mama Bigga, on their trip to the zoo one warm summer day. There Baby Bigga encounters a variety of interesting animals, including monkeys, zebras, elephants, lions and giraffes. Baby Bigga, along with young listeners and readers, not only learns to identify the many creatures he comes face to face with, but also learns about the sounds that they make and the colors that he sees.

"I wrote 'Baby Bigga Goes to the Zoo' with the hopes of educating children on colors, animals, shapes and sizes," says Gross. "I think that the book will appeal to readers because it is a fun, colorful way for parents and children to spend time together and for the parents to be able to educate the children."

Baby Bigga's exciting adventures at the zoo introduce readers to blue monkeys with pink feet who swing from the trees - "Watch out for flying bananas!," the text warns - and a yellow giraffe with orange spots who is so tall that Baby Bigga has to look up - way up - to see him. Black and white zebras roaming the hills, purple elephants who spray water from their trunks and a multi-colored lion who roars for Baby Bigga make for a great day at the zoo, and a great learning experience for children.

Children's education is a soft spot for Gross, who firmly believes that the children of today will grow up to be the leaders of tomorrow and should have a solid educational foundation.

A single mother and the owner of Baby Bigga LLC, she works full-time while also attending the National Institute of Technology in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, where she is working toward her associate's degree in business administration.
