British filmmaker Guy Ritchie and his U.S. pop star ex-wife Madonna have issued a statement saying they are happy with the financial settlement they reached.
However, the BBC said the former couple also stated the terms of the agreement are to remain private and they described news reports claiming the deal includes a $76 million to $92 million payout to Ritchie as misleading and inaccurate.
Madonna's spokeswoman, who was cited as the source for the settlement figure, reportedly said the number included the value of the family's country home in England.
We have tried to maintain a dignified silence regarding the details of our divorce for the last few months whilst accepting the obvious media interest,
the BBC quoted the couple as saying in a joint statement issued by Ritchie's representatives. The financial details of the settlement will remain private, save to say that both of us are happy with our agreement.
The statement also noted the former couple's primary concern is the care and well-being of our children.
Madonna and Ritchie, who married in 2000, have two young sons together.
