‘Lights’ out on account of weather
Friday’s Holiday Lights program at Saint Paul, Minn.’s Phalen Park has been canceled for the first time this year due to bad weather, organizers said.
The Holiday Lights in the Park committee said the event was called off Friday because of bad weather and electrical issues caused by the rain.
Celebrating its first holiday season in Minnesota, Holiday Lights in the Park is a community event that focuses on raising funds for local charities and providing an
impressive and affordable means of holiday entertainment for people of all ages, the committee said.
Friday would have been the program’s 32nd night open at Phalen Park. Holiday Lights is presented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
We regret having to cancel this evening, Vicki Sandberg, committee co-chair, said in a statement Friday.
We are hopeful for an improved weather outlook to provide spectators with more opportunities to come and see this Midwest holiday tradition with family and friends. Tomorrow night’s event is on schedule.
