NBC could combine network and cable news – NY Post
NEW YORK (Reuters) – The NBC television network isconsidering a plan to combine its news division and cablechannels CNBC and MSNBC at an operation based in New Jersey,the New York Post reported on Thursday.
NBC is looking for an executive to oversee the operation,the Post reported, quoting anonymous sources. It said theexecutive would report to NBC Universal Television GroupPresident Jeff Zucker.
NBC is owned by General Electric Co. . A spokeswoman forNBC news was not immediately available for comment.
MSNBC and CNBC are currently run out of New Jersey. ThePost reported that NBC’s “Nightly News” show and the “Today”show would remain in New York City under the plan.
The newspaper also said that as part of the plan, 24-hourcable news channel MSNBC — which is co-owned with MicrosoftCorp. — could be renamed the NBC News Channel.
