Time Warner Cable Launches 'Enterate Y Conectate/Get Informed, Stay Connected' Campaign to Prepare Hispanic Households for the Digital TV Transition

Educational campaign provides valuable information on the DTV transition to ensure consumers don't go dark after midnight on February 17, 2009

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Time Warner Cable, an industry leader and second-largest cable operator in the U.S., launched a comprehensive educational campaign called "Enterate y Conectate/Get Informed, Stay Connected" to help inform and prepare the Hispanic community for the DTV transition. As required by federal law, all full-power television stations will switch over to all-digital transmissions at midnight on February 17, 2009. By developing this campaign, Time Warner Cable wants to ensure the community stays connected and doesn't go dark when the transition takes place.

"We know there's a lot of information on DTV and it can be overwhelming. At Time Warner Cable, we want to provide straight answers to consumers' questions to help make the process easier to understand," commented Stephen Pagano, Executive Vice President for Time Warner Cable West Region. "The DTV transition will affect everyone and we realize that there are many households still unclear about the digital transition. Our campaign will help prepare the community and help them make an informed decision that will benefit their families."

Over the next two months, Time Warner Cable will reach out to the community through its educational campaign to provide free, bilingual community forums at various Dearden's locations throughout Southern California. Time Warner Cable has partnered with Jose Ulloa, the "Latino Cyberguy," to become an Ambassador in support of the campaign. He will lead the community educational forums along with other industry experts that will provide key information regarding the digital transition and how it will impact households. Consumers will have an opportunity to learn about the options and steps to take to continue enjoying their favorite programs and channels. All the information will be provided in Spanish and English to help ensure consumers are well aware of how they will be affected and what steps to take to ensure they are DTV-ready.

Locally, the Time Warner Cable LA Region serves approximately 1.9 million customers in the five counties of southern California. Although, these Time Warner Cable customers are DTV-ready, as long as their televisions are connected to the service, there are still many households not ready for the digital switch.
