The study was conducted by HCD Research during January 13-15 to obtain Americans' perceptions of Barack Obama and what effect his presidency will have on the nation's critical issues, including the economy, health care, education, the war in Iraq and energy supply and creation.

A follow-up study with the same questions and respondents will be conducted on January 20, 2009, after the Presidential Inauguration speech. The results of both studies will be compared to see if Americans' perceptions changed after viewing the speech. The results of the inaugural speech study will be available approximately 90 minutes after the speech at: www.mediacurves.com

In addition, participants' emotions will be measured using the Ayer Emotion battery, which allows viewers to select from a list of nine positive and nine negative emotions to indicate the emotions they felt while watching the speech.
