Firm Continues ‘Employer of Choice’ Momentum, Climbs 15 Places in Rankings

NEW YORK, Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ — KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm, has been named to FORTUNE Magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” list for the third consecutive year.

KPMG continued its momentum up the list and climbed 15 places this year, ranking No. 56 on the full 2009 list; No. 20 among large-sized companies.

“KPMG’s continued recognition on the FORTUNE list underscores that our partners and employees affirm our Employer of Choice (EOC) culture and they consider KPMG a great place to work and build a career,” said Timothy P. Flynn, Chairman, KPMG LLP. “We remain dedicated to being an Employer of Choice in both good and bad economic times, creating an environment that supports flexibility, embraces diversity and emphasizes career development.”

This past year, KPMG’s EOC program embraced such successful initiatives as the launch of the “People Management Leaders” program, an innovative approach to career guidance and mentorship – as well the creation of employee corporate citizenship initiatives as “Family for Literacy,” which combines firm-level philanthropy with volunteer opportunities that encourage reading among young children.

KPMG also continued its commitment to diversity and youth development through a variety of programs including sponsorship of Major League Baseball’s Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities (RBI) initiative and Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE). Additionally, KPMG’s dedication to developing a model ethics program saw the firm emerge this past year as the standard for the profession and industry.

To pick the “100 Best Companies to Work For,” FORTUNE works with the Great Place to Work(R) Institute–a global research and consulting firm with offices in 30 countries–to conduct the most extensive employee survey in corporate America.

The full list and related stories will appear in the February 2 issue of FORTUNE, on newsstands on Monday, January 26 and now at www.fortune.com/bestcompanies.
