Steelers aren’t playing here, but fans are staying here

Special hotel packages available for Steelers Nation

PITTSBURGH, Jan. 23 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — If you don’t have Super Bowl XLIII tickets in Tampa, there’s no place like Pittsburgh to watch the Big Game. To that end, numerous Pittsburgh area hotels are offering special packages to Steelers’ fans during the week leading up to the Super Bowl.

“No need for members of Steelers Nation to cry in their beer because they don’t have tickets to the Big Game. Thanks to special hotel getaway packages, Pittsburgh’s got its own game going on,” said Joe McGrath, president and CEO of VisitPittsburgh. “Outside of Tampa, there’s simply no better place to be for Steelers’ fans than Pittsburgh during the Super Bowl.”

These special Steelers getaway packages available January 26 through February 1 include a $10 GetGo gift card for every hotel night booked and one official Terrible Towel. Getaway packages are currently available at major Downtown Pittsburgh and suburban hotels. Check www.visitpittsburgh.com/Steelers for a complete list.

In addition, participating hotels will also distribute Terrible Towels to guests who check in during Super Bowl Weekend, January 30 through February 1 – even those not purchasing a Steelers Hotel Package. (Limited to one towel per room.)

“We know that Steelers fans are the most devoted fans in the country. We’ve already heard from people in Ohio and West Virginia who want to be where the action is to watch the Steelers play in the Super Bowl and that’s in Pittsburgh,” said Mr. McGrath. “It’s all about the Pittsburgh experience.”

Many attractions in and around Pittsburgh are offering special Steelers deals and activities during the week leading up to the Super Bowl. Included among the many specials are: free admission to anyone with a Terrible Towel to the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, the Andy Warhol Museum, the Frick Art & Historical Center’s Clayton and Photo Antiquities. In addition, Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History is offering half-price “Game Day Jitters” admission on Super Bowl Sunday. The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh (with Food Bank donation) is offering half-price admission through January 31.
