Actress Rutherford hopeful about divorce

Actress Kelly Rutherford, who appears on the hit U.S. TV series Gossip Girl, says she is hopeful she and her husband will be cordial though their divorce.

The 40-year-old actress, who is pregnant with the couple’s second child, said Friday she aspires to remain on good terms with Daniel Giersch after their divorce is finalized, People.com reported.

The actress, who plays Lily van der Woodsen on Gossip, said maintaining a positive relationship with her estranged husband would greatly benefit their 2-year-old son Hermes, as well as their unborn child.

I hope so, yes, I really do, Rutherford said. We’re both going to be with our son. I’m relieved we’re going to have a (custody) schedule in place.

While Giersch expressed disappointment with a Los Angeles court decision Friday allowing Rutherford to take their son to New York until March, the 34-year-old German businessman also expressed hope for the future.

I hope me and Kelly will find a way to make the best out of this situation. My wife is still my wife and I’m still her husband and we’re still two human beings, he said. She’s pregnant and we’re having a child together.
