‘Slumdog’ tops Producers Guild Awards
The Producers Guild of America says its Darryl F. Zanuck Producer of the Year Award has gone to the British drama Slumdog Millionaire.
The Los Angeles Times reported Sunday that Slumdog
producer Christian Colson was presented with the award this weekend, marking the most recent awards win for the movie from British director Danny Boyle.
Slumdog
has already won multiple Golden Globe awards and has been nominated in 10 Academy Award categories.
To take home the PGA Award Saturday, Slumdog
beat out fellow nominees The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,
The Dark Knight,
Frost/Nixon
and Milk.
The winner of the PGA Award has won the best picture Oscar that same year in 12 of the last 19 years, the Times said.
Other winners at the PGA event were producer Jim Morris, who won a Animated Theatrical Motion Picture award for Wall-E,
and Simon Chinn, whose Man on Wire
earned the producer a Documentary Theatrical Motion Picture win.
