GradeUs, LLC Completes Successful Mobile Marketing Project at 10 Sonic Stores

Posted on: Tuesday, 27 January 2009, 09:14 CST

NEW ORLEANS, Jan. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobile marketing company GradeUs, LLC (www.gradeus.com), announced successful completion of a text-based mobile marketing program at ten Sonic stores located in southern Louisiana. The campaign was comprised of two components: a customer satisfaction program which encouraged customers to grade their dining experience via text messaging and a "blast" marketing campaign which provided participating customers with coupons for free and discounted food also via text message.

GradeUs Vice President Bernard Stolberg stated, "We appreciate the opportunity provided to GradeUs by Kergan Sonic, owners of the ten participating Sonics to run a pilot test of the campaign. We are now positioned to market the program to more retail outlets. In an economic downtown, every guest touch point is critical. Our application blends a very effective means to interact with the guest via a personal interface while collecting important operational data as well as provide a marketing tool to stay connected to them."

Kergan Brothers Sonic Vice-President Vanessa Lewy said, "We have worked with many programs to attempt to gauge the satisfaction of our guests as this is the most important aspect of our business but have not seen equal response rates or had the opportunity to reach out to responding guests in the way we did with the mobile marketing program from GradeUs."

Approximately 1,000 customers participated in the pilot program which offered incentives like food discounts and a chance to win a year's worth of free food. Individual units received up to 14 responses a day and a marketing response rate of 3%. This outpaces direct mail and other traditional marketing methods, and is consistent with industry research, which indicates that offers or coupons forwarded by text message are 10 to 20 times more effective than either email or direct mail.

"We are very pleased that we had no technical glitches in implementing the Sonic campaign, and the smooth implementation and operations of the campaign proves the viability and integrity of our software platform," said Greg Woolverton, GradeUs chief technology officer.

In addition to offering customer satisfaction and mobile marketing campaigns, GradeUs provides real estate listing services, arena food ordering services and fast food ordering services, all via text message. Interested parties may test GradeUs' customer satisfaction campaign by texting the word, "Sonic" to 59925.
