Posted on: Thursday, 29 January 2009, 12:52 CST

Hospital Ranked Eighth in the Large Companies Category for 2009

DALLAS, Jan. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- For the second time in four years, Medical City Hospital - an award-winning medical facility in North Texas - has been named one of the state's top employers in the Texas Monthly 2009 list of "Best Companies to Work for in Texas." Medical City is the only hospital in North Texas to make the 2009 list, and the only hospital in the state to rank in the top ten.

Created in 2006, the award program is conducted in partnership with The Texas Association of Business (TAB) and the Texas State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management and identifies the top 100 Texas companies that benefit the state's economy, workforce and businesses while exemplifying workplace excellence.

Medical City was ranked eighth in the "Large-Sized" company category, which includes businesses with at least 250 employees. Medical City ranked 15th on the list in 2006.

"Being selected for this award is special in that it truly reflects the feelings and opinions of Medical City employees, since their input is such a crucial part of the selection process," said Britt Berrett chief executive officer. "We make every effort to provide a work environment that allows employees to feel valued and fulfilled by their work and empowered to make a difference. And we're proud to be recognized as one of the top ten workplaces for professionals in the state."

The selection of companies is based on a two-part process that allows award analysts to assess the strengths and opportunities of the participating companies. The first part of the assessment evaluates company policies, practices and demographics. The second part uses employee surveys to measure engagement and satisfaction. These two parts are combined to determine the top companies and the final rankings.

Medical City was officially recognized at the Texas Monthly "Best Companies to Work for in Texas" awards ceremony on January 28, 2009. A complete list of the final company rankings are published in a special section in the February issue of the magazine.
