‘Idol’ star Sanjaya approves of DioGuardi
Sanjaya Malakar, a standout in the sixth season of
American Idol, says this season's new judge, Kara DioGuardi, is revitalizing the U.S. TV series.
Malakar, who came in seventh in his
Idol season, said DioGuardi adds new life to the judges' table, which had been made up of Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson since the show began in 2002, the New York Daily News said Saturday.
I think it's weird to see four judges, but she's obviously qualified,he said.
And she's bringing something new. The other three judges have been there so long, it must be hard for them to come up with new things to say because a lot of the (auditioners) sound the same.
Malakar was never a judges' favorite while on
Idol, instead drawing loyal audience support for his performances and various hairstyles.
The Daily News said the former
Idol star details the behind the scenes activities of the popular FOX series in his new book,
Dancing to the Music in My Head: Memoirs of the People's Idol.
