Trend Micro Provides End-to-End Protection with OfficeScan(TM) for BBDO Branch Offices

Posted on: Monday, 2 February 2009, 11:00 CST

CUPERTINO, Calif., Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Trend Micro Inc. (TSE: 4704), a global leader in Internet content security, announced today that The Batten, Barton, Durstine & Osborn (BBDO) advertising agency is using Trend Micro(TM) OfficeScan(TM) on all desktop PCs and on all servers.

BBDO relies on its network to connect the 19 sites in North America to its worldwide operations. With up to 4,000 PC clients and 300 servers on the North America network, built-in security solutions are essential for protecting confidential campaign details for BBDO's base of high-profile corporate clients.

The IT group that supports the BBDO North America infrastructure has been continually challenged by the changing nature of security threats over the last decade. Recently, the team wanted to find a security suite that met all their goals. They wanted both desktops and network serves to be protected from viruses and malware; simplified management from a central location; a simplified update deployment; and a foundation for the future. They chose to do this by selecting a security partner that could keep up with emerging threats.

"After testing many security suites, it was clear that Trend Micro solutions were the easiest to deploy," explained Dave Krause, a server network engineer in IT at BBDO Detroit. "The installations were faster, and it was easier to manage all of the clients using the Trend Micro console."

The BBDO IT group uses OfficeScan and its comprehensive client/server security with dedicated Web threat protection. Trend Micro's web reputation protects the companies' clients-on and off the network- by blocking access to malicious sites in real time; it protects against web-based malware, data theft, lost productivity, and reputation damage. OfficeScan includes: improved virus and spyware protection, new variant detection, anti-rootkit security, malware and remnant removal, plus firewall security.

The team was also impressed with the enhanced spyware and rootkit detection and removal capabilities. Krause reported, "The Web reputation feature in OfficeScan 8.0 is catching spyware and other malware that was being missed by other security solutions that we tested. The software is finding tons of spyware, and nothing is getting through to impact systems. Our logs show us the huge amount that is being caught. Trend Micro continues to give us the best solution for our North American network."

OfficeScan is part of Trend Micro(TM) Enterprise Security, a tightly integrated offering of products, services, and solutions that minimize the time to protect organizations from content security risks. Powered by the Trend Micro(TM) Smart Protection Network, Trend Micro Enterprise Security delivers immediate protection that improves automatically -- closing the window of vulnerability -- and reduces complexity by reducing the time to acquire, deploy and manage enterprise security.
