Center for Film Studies, a Stand Alone Film Trade School Focusing on Film Crew Training, Opens in Michigan

HUNTINGTON WOODS, Mich., Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- If you always thought that you should work in the movies, now is your chance. In 2009, Michigan will be rolling with new films being shot once the ice thaws. Because training is necessary to work in various aspects of the movie industry, the Center for Film Studies is coming to Michigan cities from Farmington Hills to Ferndale, Warren, and Troy to get Michigan residents prepared. The Center for Film Studies has entered into a training alliance with the Michigan Council of Carpenters -- AFLCIO.

The school is being launched by Michigan natives Mort Meisner, Executive Director, of Huntington Woods and Jack Gruskko, Chief Operating Officer, of Bloomfield Hills. Kim Haveraneck will serve as the Director of Education, also of Bloomfield Hills. They are filling a void after discovering the need. Targeted to the needs of the film industry, to Hollywood standards, 2 - 8 week intensive training will be offered, such as set building and design, film make-up, and production. Screenwriting classes will also be offered in the near future.

The Center for Film Studies will pride itself on in hands-on film crew training and accepting only a maximum of 25 students per class. This will promote close work relations with teachers and students. Top film industry educators that also reside in Michigan have been hired to instruct the hundreds of students that will be schooled each month. Twenty intense hours will make up one week, and a total of forty hours of instruction will covered over the 2-week period.

In addition, graduates of the Center for Film Studies will be able to tap into an exclusive Web site that will provide entry level employment opportunities available in Michigan that graduates would be able to research and apply for themselves. Classroom work will be held in Troy only, while studio training will take place in Farmington Hills, Ferndale, Warren, as well as, in Troy.
