Spinal Tap recording new songs

The U.S. comic writer-actors who played the British heavy metal band in the iconic mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap
are recording some new songs.
Michael McKean, Harry Shearer and Christopher Guest starred in the 1984 film and recorded two albums as Spinal Tap. They also reunited two years ago for the Live Earth concert in London. In addition, the trio has collaborated on non-Spinal Tap projects such as the Oscar-race satire, Four Your Consideration,
and A Mighty Wind,
a mockumentary about a folk music reunion concert.
Shearer told BBC 5 Live that he, McKean and Guest are now recording their first new material in almost 20 years as Spinal Tap.
It'll be for download as well as on conventional media later this year,
Shearer said. We've never recorded the song we did at Live Earth, 'Warmer Than Hell,' and I think (Spinal Tap) are trying to revisit their old success. Not that they were ever popular, maybe in their own universe. We'll do a song called 'Gimme Some More Money,' probably with some dubious results.
