Access Hollywood's Shaun Robinson to Host 15th Anniversary NAMIC Vision Awards

Nominations for the 2009 NAMIC Vision Awards Honoring Achievements in Television Programming Diversity to Be Announced Wednesday, February 11th

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- NAMIC (National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications) today announced Emmy award-winning journalist and author, Shaun Robinson as host of the 15th Anniversary NAMIC Vision Awards. A weekend co-anchor and correspondent for entertainment newsmagazine, "Access Hollywood," Robinson will reprise her acclaimed appearance as host of the 2008 NAMIC Vision Awards. The 15th Anniversary NAMIC Vision Awards will take place at a luncheon ceremony scheduled for Friday, April 17, 2009 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.

Presented by NAMIC-Southern California, the NAMIC Vision Awards are held annually in conjunction with the NAMIC-Southern California West Coast Creative Summit, which is part of the trade organization's signature conference series focused on the content and business development aspects of the television industry. The 2009 presentation marks NAMIC's fifteenth year as the leader in the communications arena recognizing achievements in programming diversity. Since its inception, the NAMIC Vision Awards has honored creators, networks and industry leaders for demonstrating a commitment to producing multi-ethnic and culturally-relevant original programming that reflects the rich diversity of our world's populace.

Nominations for the 15th Anniversary NAMIC Vision Awards will be announced Wednesday, February 11, 2009. Awards will be presented in sixteen categories: Animation; Children's; Comedy; Documentary; Drama; Foreign Language; Lifestyle; News/Informational; Original Movie or Special; Reality; Sports; Variety/Talk Show; Digital Media-Short; Digital Media-Long; Best Performance-Comedy; Best Performance-Drama.

Robinson has interviewed the top stars in Hollywood and has co-hosted the Official Pre-Shows for the Academy Awards (2008, 2006, 2005, and 2003) and Golden Globes (2007, 2006, and 2002). Robinson co-hosted NBC's "Miss Teen USA Pageant" (2006), anchored NBC's coverage of the "Tournament of Roses Parade" (2004) and was co-host of the ShoWest Awards (2005). She has served as a presenter for the Latin Grammy's, "Soul Train Music Awards," "Stellar Gospel Awards," "Lady of Soul Awards" and the UNCF "An Evening of Stars" celebration. Additionally, Robinson served as a guest co-host on "The View" and has contributed reports for NBC News "Today" show, MSNBC, CNN, "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams," served as a panel guest on "Larry King Live," and co-hosted "Access Hollywood's" coverage of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Robinson garnered an Emmy award for her live coverage of "A Grand Night in Harlem" for the Black Sports and Entertainment Hall of Fame.

Robinson also has a new book scheduled for release spring of 2009 entitled Exactly As I Am: Celebrated Women Share Candid Advice with Today's Girls on What It Takes to Believe in Yourself. In the book Robinson shares both the honest comments she's heard from young women and the heartfelt and encouraging advice she's been in the rare position to glean from today's most notable women.
