RCA Music Group Artists Win 3 Grammy Awards

Jennifer Hudson, Kings of Leon and Alicia Keys each take home an award

NEW YORK, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ — RCA Music Group wins a total of 3 Grammy Awards at this year’s 51st Annual Grammy Awards ceremony held this evening in Los Angeles at the Staples Center.

Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Album for her chart topping self-titled debut album. Jennifer debuted at #2 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart and R&B/Hip Hop album charts and was the biggest first week sales for a debut R&B female artist since 2004 at the time of its release.

RCA Records recording artist Kings of Leon took home the Grammy award for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group with Vocals for their track “Sex on Fire” off their latest album, Only By The Night. Kings of Leon’s 4th album for RCA earned them their first ever Grammy nominations and debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 and #1 on the Billboard Digital Albums chart, marking the highest debut and the largest single sales week for the band in the US. Their Grammy-winning track “Sex on Fire” has been # 1 at rock radio for 8 consecutive weeks to date.

The recipient of 2 Grammy Awards last year for her hit single “No One,” 11 time Grammy award winning, J Records/MBK Recording artist Alicia Keys, earned the Grammy award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for “Superwoman.”

The one and only Whitney Houston took to the stage to present the first award of the evening to Arista Recording artist Jennifer Hudson. Hudson then kicked off the second hour of the show with a beautifully moving and emotional performance of “You Pulled Me Through” from her self-titled, RIAA certified Gold album, bringing the entire crowd to their feet for an extended standing ovation. Later in the show Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl joined the legendary Paul McCartney for a rousing rendition of “I Saw Her Standing There.” J Records recording artist Jamie Foxx joined Ne-Yo, Smokey Robinson and original Four Tops member Abdul “Duke” Fakir, for a star-studded tribute to the iconic group.
