Washington Women in Public Relations Selects 2009 Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, Feb. 12 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Washington Women in Public Relations (WWPR) announces its 2009 Board of Directors:

The 2009 Board of Directors was confirmed at WWPR's annual meeting January 13, 2009 at the Arts Club in Washington, DC. Out-going President Lisa Kelley McCluskey was honored for her many years of service to the board and WWPR. After many years of WWPR involvement, this will be Lauren Lawson's first term as president.

"I'm honored to be selected as president. I have the privilege of carrying on WWPR traditions and of working with outstanding professionals who care about our membership. My fellow board members are a diverse group of women who will take WWPR to its next level of growth," says Lawson. "One of my top priorities will be to spearhead a communications audit to increase the visibility of our new pro bono client in both the public and the media."

WWPR's pro bono client, The Children's Law Center, is the largest legal services provider in the District helping more than 1,000 children each year and the only organization that provides free legal representation specifically to children. WWPR will provide pro bono public relations service to the Children's Law Center through January 2011.
