Second Annual Courage Cup Race Raises More Than $5,000 for Courage Center's Ski and Snowboard Program

MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- With the goal of advancing the lives of children and adults experiencing barriers to health and independence, the Courage Center's Ski and Snowboard Program hit the slopes last weekend. Nearly 200 community members, volunteers and Courage Center clients gathered on Saturday, Feb. 7, for a day of fun, competition and meeting new friends at the Second annual Courage Cup ski race.

The event, at Trollhaugen in Dresser, Wis., included a ski race, raffle and silent auction to benefit Courage Center's Ski and Snowboard program. For $75, teams of three participants were matched with a Courage Center adaptive skier for the race.

"The day was a huge success, we brought in more than $5,000, which is the most we've ever raised," said Deb Swanson the program's board chair and ski volunteer. "We went from 12 teams last year to more than 30 this year!"

The event almost tripled in the number of participants and raised nearly five times as much money as last year's event.

"We were so honored to be asked to host such a wonderful event," said Summer Kelly, marketing director for Trollhaugen Winter Recreation. "All of the participants worked together to make the day an enjoyable and festive one! We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day."
