'The Autism & Special Education Law Coloring Book': New Book Combines Interactive Guide for Parents with Whimsical Children's Story

Posted on: Friday, 13 February 2009, 07:05 CST

SANTA ANA, Calif., Feb. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- In his new educational and legal guide, "The Autism & Special Education Law Coloring Book" (published by AuthorHouse), Paul H. Kamoroff presents an essential resource for parents, schools and advocates to refer to as they assist autistic or otherwise disabled children.

"My book directly and concisely provides a how-to guide to help people navigate through what is becoming an increasingly large and complex area of law, Special Education Law," Kamoroff writes. "Each school must comply with a bevy of state and federal laws, such as the IDEA [Individuals with Disabilities Education Act], to provide for autistic and special needs students; parents, teachers and advocates of these children need to be informed of these laws which protect and provide services, assessments and appropriate educational placements for these special children."

Kamoroff, an active, accomplished attorney, breaks down the specifics of various laws and gives legal background on myriad issues including the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, No Child Left Behind and the Lanterman Act, among others.

Laying the groundwork with a basic overview of special education law, Kamoroff goes on to discuss Individualized Education Programs [IEPs], referring to them as "the building block of your child's educational career." He describes, in layman's terms, how these plans can be maximized to benefit special needs children.

In addition to providing a practical, important legal guide, "The Autism & Special Education Law Coloring Book" also offers an easy-to-read, friendly and moral children's story: the story of Boo the turtle and his adventures with an orchestra of animals. Although ferrets attempt to disrupt the musicians, a happy ending is had by all when Boo and his friends successfully complete a concert after asking the ferrets to join them. Accompanying Boo's journey are professionally illustrated pictures which can be colored in by children reading the story.

By combining straightforward, concise legal advice and discussion of special education law with a lighthearted children's story, Kamoroff has created a truly one-of-a-kind book. "The Autism & Special Education Law Coloring Book" is both entertaining and interactive for children and essential reading for parents, educators and advocates.

Paul H. Kamoroff is an active attorney in good standing with the State Bar of California. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Pepperdine School of Law and holds a certificate in dispute resolution from the Straus Institute, Pepperdine School of Law. Kamoroff presently manages a law firm in Orange County, Calif., where he has directly represented hundreds of autistic and disabled children through all aspects of the special education legal process, including IEPs, dispute resolution sessions, mediations, due process hearings, federal court and appellate court trials.
