Gas leak prompts theme park evacuation
A gas leak at a
Harry Potter ride at Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure prompted a partial evacuation of the Florida theme park, a spokesman says.
Universal spokesman Tom Schroder said Saturday's gas leak occurred at the construction site for the theme park's forthcoming Wizarding World of Harry Potter ride, based on the popular
Harry Potter book and movie series, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported.
The leak, which reportedly was caused by construction activities, forced park officials to evacuate guests from part of the park's Lost Continent section.
The fire department also was called in as a precaution, Schroder said.
The Universal Studios official told the Sentinel the gas leak was plugged within a half hour, allowing park operations to return to normal. No injuries were reported.
