Healthcare Executives Will Discuss How Best to Spend Economic Stimulus Money at June Conference

Posted on: Monday, 23 February 2009, 10:44 CST

Invitation-only event brings together healthcare C-suite leaders, policymakers, and architects to explore challenges and opportunities of integrating technology into healthcare facility design and care processes

NEW YORK, Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Healthcare Informatics Magazine, the only publication focused solely on servicing acute-care C-suite IT leaders, and The Center for Health Design (CHD), a nonprofit research, education, and advocacy organization, are launching a new, executive conference, X3 Summit, to be held in San Francisco, CA, on June 14-16.

X3 Summit is a unique event that will focus on the fusion of technology, clinical care and facility design and explore how to financially maximize their interaction. Participants will discuss new advancements and their implications in developing, financing, and operating future facilities. They will also participate in identifying and establishing a research agenda to help make the business case for the technology and facilities investments made by organizations.

"As awareness of evidence-based design increases and the body of evidence grows, more and more people have sought to build hospitals with the guidance of research. But, up until now, there was no event specifically examining the confluence of technology, facility design, and innovations in clinical care," says Debra Levin, President and CEO of The Center. "Success will come from understanding and matching the requirements of all three forces."

"X3 Summit provides a forum that will take the magazine content and apply it to everyday obstacles faced by healthcare executives," says Anthony Guerra, Editor-in-Chief of Healthcare Informatics Magazine. "Attendees will discuss the issues that CIOs, CTOs, and other executives ask us to address every day: What is the future of technology in healthcare, and how can it be implemented in a financially viable manner?"

Healthcare Informatics, published by Vendome Group, is the first business publication to focus on the development and implementation of information systems in healthcare. Its goal is to provide timely, high-quality intelligence about information technology for executives and managers on the IT decision-making team in healthcare facilities and organizations of all types. CHD has been working to improve the quality and safety of medical facilities for the past 20 years, focusing on the use of evidence-based design to improve outcomes for patients and staff and to improve the bottom line.

X3 is the third event that Vendome Group and The Center have partnered on. Together, they have produced Environments for Aging, a conference designed to educate architects, designers, builders, owners, and government agencies on the planning and design of next-generation elder-friendly environments, and HEALTHCARE DESIGN, which provides educational opportunities and forums for those who design, build, and renovate healthcare facilities. HEALTHCARE DESIGN is the largest and most comprehensive educational conference of its kind, and was attended by more than 3,500 people in 2008.
