Ne-Yo says he wants to talk to Brown
U.S. rapper Ne-Yo says he doesn’t want to jump to conclusions regarding the alleged altercation between his friends Chris Brown and Rihanna.
Brown, 19, was arrested on Feb. 8, hours after he allegedly beat up his girlfriend Rihanna, 21, during an argument in a sports car in Los Angeles. Rihanna and Brown were both nominated for Grammy Awards and were slated to perform at the awards presentation, but dropped out at the last minute.
Ne-Yo, who has worked with both singers, told MTV News he has spoken to Rihanna about what happened that night, and said he plans to speak to Brown, as well.
I wanted to talk to them before I made a comment, Ne-Yo said.
I spoke to Rihanna. She says she’s fine. She didn’t go into detail about what happened. I understand it’s a painful situation; I didn’t push.
Last week, a photo purportedly of Rihanna’s battered face was released on the Internet, prompting a Los Angeles Police Department investigation into how it was leaked.
I saw the picture, Ne-Yo told MTV News.
Again, I still don’t know what happened, ’cause I haven’t had the opportunity to talk to Chris yet. But to take it to that level really hurt my heart. … I’m not going to crucify him. I’m not going to do that. That’s still my homeboy at the end of the day. For it to go to that level was wrong. I won’t say who was responsible. I won’t pick no sides. I’m just saying it was wrong (that) it had to happen like that, and I’m praying for the both of them.
