Siegfried & Roy on stage one last time
The magic act Siegfried & Roy made a brief farewell appearance on a Las Vegas stage this weekend with Montecore, the white tiger that almost killed Roy Horn.
The Las Vegas Sun reported Sunday that Horn and Siegfried Fischbacher reunited Saturday for a one-time-only show on behalf of the Lou Ruvo Brain Institute.
The two illusionists, who retired in October 2003 after Horn was attacked by Montecore, performed in front of nearly 1,000 people at the Keep Memory Alive fundraiser.
The event capped a career that included 5,750 performances over a 13 1/2-year span, the Sun said.
The pain and drama and all that comes with the territory. That’s irrelevant, Horn said once about their Las Vegas act.
For the first 15 years in Las Vegas, we worked seven days a week with no vacation, and three shows on Fridays and Saturdays, Fischbacher once said.
And we had to do it. There was no other choice.
