Georg Jensen and 10 corso como go back a long time as the founder and
owner of 10 corso como, the charismatic and legendary Carla Sozzani, has
always felt a deep passion for Scandinavian design in general and for Georg
Jensen in particular. Carla Sozzani has also for years known Ulrik Garde Due,
who in 2007 was appointed CEO of Georg Jensen.

“I have known Ulrik Garde Due for many years and appreciate our
friendship very much. As I have always felt a great love for the Georg Jensen
design I was of course very pleased when he broke the news and told me that
he was going back to Denmark to be in charge of Georg Jensen,” Carla Sozzani says.

As part of the official opening of the cooperative Henning Koppel Silver
Exhibition of 10 corso como and Georg Jensen, this extraordinary couple
hosted an exclusive dinner celebrating design, craftsmanship and fashion that
lasts and editors, designers and key customers enjoyed a wonderful and late
evening in a true Scandinavian atmosphere at 10 corso como in Milan.

The 10 corso como & Georg Jensen cooperative Henning Koppel Exhibition
shows an amazing collection of iconic Henning Koppel pieces representing his
complete work for Georg Jensen from 1958 when he first entered the Georg
Jensen silver smithy until his final drawing was signed in 1978. The Georg
Jensen Koppel Silver Exhibition at 10 corso como will be running to March 8th
2009.

About Henning Koppel

Henning Koppel (1918-1981) may not be the best known of the Georg Jensen
designers – but for certain one of the most important. Henning Koppel’s work
was in every way ground braking and at the same time it defined the very
essence of Scandinavian design. His simple, organic lines and the fluidity of
his sculptural designs somehow resemble the genuine simplicity of the ancient
silver or gold pieces hidden in the Scandinavian soil until revealed by
archaeologists. As Henning Koppel was a sculpture and not a silversmith
himself he was able to work outside the boundaries of silver as a material.

About Georg Jensen

Founded in Denmark in 1904, Georg Jensen now has over 100 stores in 13
countries. Initially a silversmith that created exclusive silver hollowware
and jewellery, Georg Jensen now applies its superior craftsmanship to a wide
range of gold and silver jewellery, watches, cutlery and hollowware as well
as design items for the home. Its pure, elegant, Scandinavian design style is
loved by millions around the world and is often quoted as one of Denmark’s
most recognised brands.
