U.S. Secretary of State Clinton to Join European Parliament President Pottering in Brussels for ‘Town Hall’ Meeting With Young Europeans on March 6

WASHINGTON, March 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will join European Parliament President Hans-Gert Pottering at Parliament in Brussels on Friday, March 6, for a “town hall” discussion with an audience of young Europeans.

The “town hall” style event with questions and answers will be preceded by a bilateral meeting between Secretary Clinton and President Pottering.

The European Parliament is the only directly-elected body of the European Union. There are currently 785 members representing the 492 million citizens of the 27 EU member states. Hans-Gert Pottering of Germany has served continuously in the European Parliament since direct elections were first held in 1979. He has served as president since January 2007.
