Local Woman Benefits from WCC Tournament in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, March 7 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada, an affiliate of Rebuilding Together, the nation's leading nonprofit working to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize communities, along with Gonzaga University Alumni will team up this weekend to assist local homeowner Vivian Beach.

Beach, 83, is legally blind and has been unable to complete the repairs needed at her home. Rebuilding Together and Gonzaga plan to remodel her kitchen which will include a new dish washer, electric stove and a washer and dryer for her laundry room. The groups will also help clean her yard and do some landscaping.

"Gonzaga University has a very successful basketball team, but the school is about so much more than sports. The students, faculty, staff and the alumni are people who care about their communities. When the decision was made to have the WCC Tournament in a neutral city, Las Vegas, it seemed natural to have the GU community come together and give something back," stated Mary Herche, a member of the Gonzaga University Board of Regents and National Board Chairwoman for Rebuilding Together.

Herche continued, "Gonzaga fans will show that when they come into a community for basketball games, they leave it better than they found it by coming together and helping a person in need. The Southern Nevada program had a woman who needed our help it seemed like the perfect way to score in the community as well as on the courts."

The Gonzaga Alumni volunteers will also be teaming with volunteers from St. Rose Dominican Hospital Facilities Management group for that day.
