Mount Airy Casino Resort Names New Golf-Pro; Set to Open Course This Spring to Guests and Public

PARADISE, Pa., March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Mount Airy Casino Resort announced today that it will re-open its 18-hole golf course this spring and that it has hired Randy Vaskas, a former Assistant Golf Professional at the prestigious Philadelphia Country Club, to oversee operations of the course. The course had been temporarily closed for two seasons due to construction of the new Mount Airy Casino Resort.

Vaskas most recently worked as a Golf Professional at Philadelphia Country Club in Gladwyne, Pa., a member owned club offering 27 holes of Championship Golf. Randy has been part of the PGA for nine years and earned his PGA membership through the Professional Golf Management Program. He was part of the team at Glenmaura National in Moosic, Pennsylvania and served as part of the teaching staff at the Mercedes-Benz Championship at Kapalua Golf Resort in Maui. Randy has also served on the staff at Aronimink Golf Club near Newtown Square, Pa; the Inn at Pocono Manor; and the Country Club of Scranton in Clarks Summit, Pa.

DeNaples indicated that the casino resort plans to reopen the golf course in mid- to late-April depending on weather conditions. She said Vaskas, who officially began work on March 16, is still working out final details of a pricing for greens fees and cart rentals. Details on an opening date and course rates will be made public as soon as they are available.

While the full course will be open for golf, DeNaples said it would play as a par 70 as opposed to its normal par 72 due to the prior construction activities. She said the casino resort intends to conduct some renovations of the course over the next year or two.
